Gotvand Hydro Generation More than 1300 GWhr

Text

Gotvand has generated more than 1300 GWhr, since its operation, meeting part of the demand needed by national power grid.
G.H. Samandegani, head of Hydro mechanical and electrical division of Gotvand, announcing the news said that four units of plant have been launched one after another since April 2012 empowering the plant to produce 1000 mw in the first phase. He also said that Gotvand plant is fully connected to the national grid. He also pointed to the cost of generated power by Gotvand and added that it costs more than 900 billion Rials (about 54 million US$).
He also said that Gotvand can help the national power grid at peak hours, and totally with its four other units that are to be installed at extension phase, its capcity reaches more than 2000 mw and can produce  4550 Gwhr of hydro energy per year.
"Since Gotvand plant holds the highest capacity among Iran's hydro plants, it can improve and overcome the limitations of hydro generation  in upstream plants and guarantee safety of the grid and play a unique role in controlling its stability."
He stressed that Gotvand has an important role in the country and asserted that taking into account 1000 Mw capacity of Gotvand, Iran's hydro power capacity reaches 10000 mw and we expect its further increase when the extension phase finishes in the future.
Gotvand dam and hydro power plant is located 5 km away Gotvand City in Khuzestan Province. The dam was impounded on Thursday July 30th, 2011 in the presence of President Ahmadinejad. The first unit of Gotvand joined Iran's power network on May 5, 2012 followed by the last one in November, 2012.
