Despite Imposed Foreign Sanctions, Lavatak Plant Commissioned by Iranian Experts

Text

Despite imposed foreign sanctions, Lavarak hydro power plant joined Iran Power Network after repair of design and installation defects by indigenous experts.
According to Iwpco's PR office carrying the news, Lavarak hydro power plant is located 40 kms north-east of Tehran, upstream of Latian Dam and along the main water carrying pipeline of Lar to Tehran, after Kalan power plant.
H. Etaati, executive officer of IWPCO's operating projects announcing the news added that commissioning and operation of Lavarak power plant had been halted for two years following Canada's diplomatic cut of ties with Iran and Canadian supervisors' obstructionism and refusal to finish the tasks.
Trust in our experts and specialists as well as self-confidence of our indigenous engineers proved productive and led to commissioning of Lavarak plant. Lavarak plant was dug 210 m below the ground surface and is able to generate 210 GWHr of energy in a year.
Having a head of 280 m and velocity of 750 rpm , the power plant was considered of high head type and needed pendulum length of 15 m and triangular labyrinth that entailed high complexity at the time of installation and alignment of unit.
He believed supervisors' leaving and obstructionism were the major cause of delay in this project and increase of costs.
Following Canadian obstructionism, it was decided to redesign and reinstall the plant based on our own capabilities and knowledge which ultimately led to commissioning and connection of first unit to power grid. The final stages of commissioning the second unit are also about to terminate as well.
He also asserted that in favor of gained experience of Iranian experts at installation and commissioning stages we are no longer dependent on foreign countries. He also said that foreign experts are only now employed to carry out their previous guarantees.
