Iran and Slovenia Sign Memorandum of Understanding

Text

In parallel with Iran's attempt to localize design and manufacture of hydro turbines, IWPCO signed an MOU with Hydraulic Machinery Instituteof Slovenia (HMIS) and Turbo Machine Research Institute of Tehran University.  The MOU mainly emphasizes the transfer of technology and cooperation among parties.
According to IWPCo's PR announcing the news, the MOU was signed after rounds of negotiations and following an invitation sent to Prof. Vladimir Kersen, managing director of Turbo Institute of Slovenia and his presence in Tehran in April 2012.
The MOU was signed by Rezazadeh, chief executive officer of IWPCO, Prof. Kamarei, head of technical faculties of Tehran University, and Prof. V. Kersen.
According to MOU's Articles a Hydro-Turbo center equipped with a laboratory for testing and modeling turbines is to be built in Iran using state-of-the-art technology. The center will be able to calibrate industrial flow-meters besides performing tests on Francis, Kaplan and reversible pump-turbines.
In extension phase of this center other turbines including Bulb and Pelton turbines can be tested. The center will aim to localize knowledge of turbo machine manufacturing and develop turbo software and models.
The MOU duration is three years.
HMIS with 64 years of considerable experience in related field is considered as one of the unique leading reference laboratories worldwide. The Institute provides technical help and support to major turbine manufacturers and performs the majority of Iran's hydro-turbine tests. In addition to carrying out research, the Institute possesses detailed design knowledge of hydro turbine and pump equipment.
On the sidelines of signing the MOU, different parts of Institute including the model test laboratory and turbine manufacturing workshop were visited by Iranian members.
