Excavation of Rudbar-e-Lorestan Tunnel Spillways Began

"Excavation of west tunnel spillway heading of Rudbar-e-Lorestan began", according to IWPCO's office of PR quoting Gharoni, the Executive Officer of project, as saying.
"Rudbar-e-Lorestan is a 156 m high earth-fill dam which can store 228 million m3 of water. It has two tunnel spillways totally 401 m long and each 11m in diameter", Gharoni said.
He then added that with China's allocation of 280 million Euros, the project can be exploited within the next three years. 
Gharoni also stated that construction of Rudbar-e-Lorestan could prevent yearly emission of 626000 tons of CO2 and reduce high cost of thermal power plant operation. This improves entrepreneurship and increase recreational activities in area.
"The necessary finance for implementation of project was estimated to be about 500 million US dollars. When operated, the project return of capital is about 46 million US dollars per year.
"Rudbar-e-Lorestan has 2 units each generating 225MW of energy. The plant can provide power network with 986 GWH of energy per year. At the peak of project more than 1600 people are employed." he declared
Rudbar-e-Lorestan dam is built across Rudbar River, one of east branches of Dez watershed , 100km away from Aligoodarz in Lorestan Province.
