Exploiting of the country's largest truss bridge set up on Alkan River, connecting Lorestan and Chahar Mahal and Bakhtiari provinces was incepted.
According to a report released by IWPCO’s PR, announcing the news Dr. Morteza Qaarooni Nick, the Executive Director of Roodbar-e- Lorestan Dam and Power Plant said: “Chal Fahreh, as the country's largest truss bridge constructed near Roodbar-e- Lorestan Dam and Power Plant workshop, has 5 / 5 meters wide, 81 meters long, 210 tons weight, as well as 31 meters height of Alkan River’s level.
He pointed out that upon operation of the bridge, in addition to solving the traffic problems of Chal Fahreh and Baznavid villages, located in Aligoodarz City, the ground connection of Lorestan and Chahar Mahal and Bakhtiari provinces will also be established.
“In the exploitation ceremony of the bridge, the officials such as Mr. Besharati , General Director of Presidential Institution’s Deprived Areas, Mr. Mir Shafiee, Deputy Rural Road of Transportation Ministry, Dr. Dehmordeh, Governor of Lorestan and a group of Lorestan  and Chahar  Mahal and Bakhtiari  managers , as well as the local officials were present,” the Executive Director of Roodbar-e- Lorestan Dam and Power Plant noted.
He further added that in the event, some negotiations were conducted with General Director of Presidential Institution’s Deprived Areas, as well as the Governor of Lorestan regarding the progress of Roodbar plan.”
Dr. Qaarooni Nick expressed hope that by timely financing and completing the project based on the schedule, a big step will be taken to eliminate the region’s deprivation.
Besharat Zalghi section, with a center called Baznavid and 11 thousand inhabitants, is located at 100 km of Aligoodarz City, while Roodbar-e- Lorestan Dam and Power Plant is under construction in the region in contour of Lorestan, as well as Chahar Mahal and Bakhtiari provinces.
Signaling that the physical progress of the project has reached to 39 percent as of February 2011, the Executive Director of Roodbar-e- Lorestan Dam and Power Plant cited: “The administrative and technical operations of the plan do not have any specific problem or major complications and the project will be operational in 2014.”
Introducing Roodbar-e- Lorestan Dam as the highest hydraulic structure under construction on the branches of Dez River in Lorestan Province, he said:
“Roodbar-e- Lorestan Hydroelectric Plant, with a capacity of 450 MW and  two 225 MW units will generate 986 million kilowatt hours of energy per annum.”
Meanwhile the feasibility study of constructing a pumped storage power plant, with a capacity of 1000 to 1500 MW, is also undertaken and after obtaining the required permits, the project will be implemented.
With 158 m height, Roodbar-e- Lorestan Dam, is under construction on the branches of East Dez River, 100 km South of Aligoodarz City, Lorestan Province.
