Iran Water and Power Resources
Development Company was established in 1368. The main responsibility of this
company is to actualize a considerable part of the hydropowerpotentials of
the country and develop the facilities of reserving and transfering of water.
In order for achieving this goal, IWPCo aims to:
"Develop and complete the power generating, water
transfer and pump-storage projects and render management services to the said
projects"
IWPCo is active in the following fields:

Preparing, operating and developing hydropowerpower
generating facilities and structures

Preparing and implementing national projects in the fields of
providing and transferring water and pump-storage facilities and structures
-
Rendering project management services in the fields of
hydropowerpower plants facilities on the basis of different financing
methods

Designing different projects in respect of water industry
policies of the country and proposing them to the Mother Company of Iran Water
Resources Management and supervising these projects

Feasibility studies for hydropowerprojects and proposing
them to the Mother Company of Iran Water Resources Management
-
Providing standards in the fields related to the goals of the
company and providing consulting services in this regard
-
Implementing programs of Mother Company of Iran Water Resources
Management in the field of supporting and boosting potentials for contracting,
consulting and constructing hydropowerpower plants equipments and attracting
public partnership in this regard |
- Cooperating with research companies in order to develop
scientific, technical and economic potentials, including new scientific and
technical methods for implementation of water and hydropowerstructures
- Purchasing services from private sector in the fields of
research and implementation of water and hydropowerstructures in order to
decrease the costs, boost the productivity and increase the quality of services
- Performing all types of activities and exchanges which are
necessary to achieve the goals of the company, within the framework of the
relevant rules and regulations
IWPCo is an independent legal entity and a
private joint-stock company. IWPCo is financially independent and follows its own
articles of association. IWPCo is one of the sub-divisions of Mother Company of
Iran Water Resources Management and all its shares belong to the government.

They follow the regulations set by the Ministry of Energy in respect of
policies, programs and activities
The main office of IWPCo is located in Tehran, but it is
active all over the country.
IWPCoo has completed the construction and implementation of
four power plants, with the capacity of approximately 4000 MW and has 7 projects
in hand, with the capacity of more than 6500 MW, which will be completed by the
end of fourth Development Program.
IWPCoo is also studying the feasibility of more than 16000 MW
of different power plant projects.
